Sunday, March 7th, our evening service is cancelled to go next door to the United Pentecostal Church for Buna’s annual Redbud community service to be held at 6pm.

This week’s call to prayer and fasting is more than a one-week commitment. As Christians it should be a renewal of the covenant that we made with God when we accepted His gift of salvation. There is so much more to being a “Christian” than simply having the title, yet that is often all that we expect of it. In His Word, Jesus warned us against becoming lukewarm in our lives, but rather to pursue being on fire for Him. By choosing to fast and pray, as well as making the effort to serve His Kingdom in other ways, we show our love for Him and our desire to share with others the love we’ve been shown.

In this new year, may you realize your worth in the family of God. May you find your place in His Church, and may you live your life to the fullest by fully relying on Him for direction, guidance, and the strength to follow through. Humble Hands Quartet, a southern gospel group from Longview, Texas, will be ministering in the evening service at 6:00 pm. This will be a great evening of praising God to a slightly different tune than an average church service here at First Assembly.

Today marks the end of a trip to Orlando, Florida by four of our FireHouse Youth Ministries students and their sponsors. This week was the Assemblies of God General Council and National Fine Arts Festival, which our youth competed at for the first time ever this year. All six competitions our youth entered ranked them “Superior,” promising even better chances next year now that we know the ropes!

A special thanks to all who contributed to funding this trip and other endeavors for our Youth Department this year and also to the sponsors who saw to making this trip a success.

Our youth have stepped to a new level this year by pursuing involvement in District and National events, and they have returned intent on even deeper involvement in their community. Each night’s service provided challenge after challenge to be Christ in our world every day. This is only the beginning of FireHouse’s Youth in Ministry for Christ.

On September 9th, 2009, all youth in the Assemblies of God have been challenged to turn in an offering of $100 each to supplement the work of Christ’s church around the world. If you missed out on Kids Crusade this year, we hope that you will consider being a part next year! However, you don’t have to wait until then to find out what First Assembly has to offer. God is at work in the people of our church and we invite you to come experience and grow with us as we press on year-round toward a deeper and stronger relationship with our Lord.

Through this year’s Kids Crusade focused on Paul’s life work and the lives of members of the underground church. In our society we are able to worship God freely and without fear of punishment, but those rights are only ours as long as we actively use and defend them. At First Assemlby of God, we are a church body with a heart for reaching the children and adults of our community. We see the need around us for a new approach to winning the lost and we are taking the initiative to do our very best for the Kingdom.
